Microteaching

Microteaching is a phenomenal learning experience for teachers to improve their teaching style and build their confidence. I was very nervous and shy during my microteaching session, but with practice, they can overcome these challenges. It was shown it is important to allocate sufficient time and resources for the implementation of microteaching, ensure that microteaching sessions slice are as realistic and authentic as possible, and involve experienced teachers in the process. I also practiced my lesson plan beforehand, seek feedback from peers and instructors, and reflect on my strengths and weaknesses to improve my teaching style. Overall, microteaching is an effective teaching method that can help teachers develop their teaching abilities and prepare them for the

realities of the classroom.

What did you like about the lesson?

I liked the fact that the learners were engaged throughout the lesson and throughout the quiz game.

What can be improved in the lesson?

I can improve on my lesson by doing a different more engaging activity. The lesson could have been more interactive if I asked more questions and used another technology tool.

How well did this lesson make use of digital tools for online teaching?

The digital tool I used worked very well within the lesson and the learners were very engaged. I loved that the tools I used were engaging and had music as well as an interactive PowerPoint presentation.

What does the teacher need to consider for the f2f lesson?

Teachers need to consider, time management, discipline, technology tool, engagement, internet, load shedding, their tone in voice when preparing and speaking in an online setting.

During my microteaching I faced some challenges including:

1. lack the realism and authenticity of a real classroom, which can affect their effectiveness.

2.Language barriers: For non-native English speakers

3.Nervousness and shyness

4.Problems with lesson planning

Additionally, I needed to practice my lesson plan beforehand, seek feedback from peers and instructors, and reflect on my strengths and weaknesses to improve their teaching style.

During my lesson, these were some of my strengths:

1. Confidence: I was confident in my tone of voice

2. Preparation: I was well prepared

3. Engagement: The learners were engaged throughout the lesson

4. Experimentation; I experimented with different online tools and games.

Overall, microteaching is a valuable teaching method that can help teachers develop their teaching abilities, build their confidence, and prepare them for the realities of the classroom. Teachers can use microteaching to experiment with new teaching methods and strategies, develop specific teaching skills, and receive constructive feedback from peers and instructors.

The feedback in which I received from the online padlet after my lesson includes in a summary:

The lesson went well, i was well planned and kept learners from being distracted by using my online tool and PowerPoint presentation.

I could of made use of better questions, the timer worked well and by allowing learners to use their mic was very creative and interactive.

i could of asked different learners to bring different objects up to the camera as they all bought similar 3-D objects. The slice of the lesson went well, It was great time management skills and the rationale was said with a good tone of voice.

I have had positive experience during microteaching. I felt confident and well-prepared going into the microteaching session and were able to explain concepts well. I found that students were engaged and on task during the microteaching session, which was a positive reflection on my teaching style.

Microteaching also provided me with an opportunity to experiment with new teaching methods and strategies, which can help me find new teaching methods that are more effective than their usual methods. Additionally, microteaching can help teachers develop their teaching skills and build their confidence. Overall, I found microteaching to be a valuable learning experience that has helped me improve my teaching abilities to prepare for the realities of the classroom.

Well done on an engaging online lesson. It can be seen that personal growth occurred during this experience and that emphasis was placed on preparation of the lesson. Good luck with your future online teaching experiences!
